QADA Fair, 25-27 May 2012

RNA Showgrounds, Gregory Tce, Bowen Hills

The QADA 2012 Antique Fair promises to be our best ever. Our members are busily saving special pieces to tempt collectors and those interested in finding unusual and beautiful decorative antiques. The Thursday night opening will take on a new look this year to encourage more people to get that “first look”. Opening night will have a cover charge of $15 per person which includes a free drink, with entrance for the remainder of the fair being $10.

It is the sixth year we have held the fair at the showgrounds and feedback is definitely positive. The parking is easy and there is a great mix of dealers and antiques aiming to please all tastes. The Antique trade continues to undergo a steady revival with quality goods bringing excellent prices throughout the antique world. Oriental Antiques have improved their values sharply as buyers realise the potential of this enormous market.

It is also worth remembering that by buying antique goods you are being environmentally responsible. To purchase a piece which is handmade without using electricity, in natural woods can be viewed as being very green indeed. As one dealer in the UK pointed out, “Windsor chairs are a prime example. Cut from wild trees, turned on a pole lathe and assembled by hand, they have to be one of the greenest objects ever made.”

Decorating with antique pieces can add warmth and character to any room in your home whilst displaying collectables and an eclectic mix of interesting pieces creates an individual look which happily mixes with any décor.

QADA will be vetting the Fair and buyers can be sure there will be no reproductions in the room. Come and join us at this year’s Queensland Antique Dealers Association Fair at the RNA Showgrounds.

The opening night, Thursday, 24 May, runs from 6.30 pm to 9.30 pm. Admission is $15 and the tickets are available at the door on the night.

The fair continues for the next three days from 10 am to 8 pm on Friday 25 May and Saturday 26 May, and from 10 am to 4 pm on Sunday 27 May 2011.
